Bluefield Area Arts & Crafts Center
The Arts & Craft Center is located in downtown Bluefield, in Bluefield's historic "Old City Hall" building. Featured exhibits include the Paine Gallery, handmade crafts and artwork exhibits. Also at Bluefield Arts & Craft Center, take in a play in the Summit Theatre, which presents four plays a year, or visit the Science Center.

Our Coalfield Heritage. The library houses photographs, oral history on tape, diaries, books, music, film, company recorded memorabilia, maps and other coalfield materials. Call ahead for an appointment.

Historic Crab Orchard Museum
The Historic Crab Orchard Museum shows and exhibits what life on the Appalachian frontier was like 150 years ago. Exhibits include log homes, horse-drawn equipment and early vintage automobiles. View a real life Cherokee settlement, with regional crafts, food and art, then see artifacts from Native Americans dating as far back as 10,500 years ago.

Pocahontas Exhibition Mine & Museum
Opened up in 1882, this mine produced more than 44 million tons of coal until it closed after 73 years of production. This mine, which is Virginia's official state coal heritage museum, offers a spectacular view. Thirteen-foot tall coal seam, the mine maintains a year-round temperature of 52 degrees. Open from April through October, walking tours of the Pocahontas Hisoric town may also be arranged.

Claytor Lake State Park
Camping, hiking and picnicking. Claytor Lake emcompasses a 4,500 acre area, making this lake a popular spot for various types of water sports. The visitor center, Howe House, features exhibits on early pioneers.

Grandfather Hollow Wilderness Campground
Log cabins, RV hookups, camping, hiking and fishing. Overnight hay rides, a petting zoo and 150 acre animal habitat containing black bear, elk, wild boar, white-tailed dear and various other animals native to this region.

Hungry Mother State Park
108 acre lake nestled in beautiful woodlands, this park features a sandy beach area, boating, camping, handicapped-accessible fishing pier, hiking and guided horseback trail rides. Cabin rentals available.

Pinnacle Rock State Park
Hike 2,700 feet above sea level up the rugged stone staircase to the top of this rock! Spectacular view of the area from the top. The State Park features hiking trails and picnic areas.

Pipestem Resort State Park
